Automating the facility locking systems as much as possible can drastically simplify processes that typically require an onsite presence. Showing units, overlocking, and providing locks for new rentals are just a few examples. Below are some suggestions for how to automate this process at a virtually managed facility.
1. Consider using Davinci Locks. These combination disc locks allow for less involvement of the manager as organized and assigned via the DaVinci browser-based software and can be assigned to vacant, occupied, overlocked, and company units. Each unit is assigned by serial number with a designated unlock code. Utilizing a locking system like this would simply the process of showing units and renting units remotely, as the unlock code of the vacant unit can be given to the prospective customer or assigned to new tenant once the rental has been completed. An auto-text with the unlock code information is sent when the lock is assigned, as well as when the tenants overlock has been removed in the system. They would just need to return the overlock to the office if it hasn't already been removed by maintenance.
2. Consider a fully automated locking technology like Noke. Noke bluetooth locks are the ideal locking system for a virtually managed facility, as they provide remote access to all units, whether occupied, vacant, or overlocked. This technology can also be used to remotely unlock gate systems and access doors. Overlocks are automatically added and removed via integration with the PMS, and because the locks are built into the doors and require tenant specific access to enter, they are much more security than traditional locks.
